The goal of our Capstone is to support the exceptional education community in the following ways: educate the public on the issues that the community faces and giving kids in the community a night to shine. We plan on communicating with people within and associated with the exceptional education community to see what the general public can do to make them feel more integrated into society. We will then take this information and share it with students to humanize kids with these disabilities and show how we can improve their day to day lives. We will end our Capstone with a dance named A Starry Night. This dance will be open to elementary aged kids with intellectual disabilities. At this dance, we hope to help these kids feel accepted and to give them a night to shine. This event will be all about putting a smile on their faces and making them feel like the stars that they are. At the end of the event, we hope to make a donation to Special Olympics using any left over funds.
